Laboratory for Industry 4.0 Smart Manufacturing Systems (Auckland)
Xun Xu is a Chair Professor of Manufacturing at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, The University of Auckland. He joined the Department after completing a PhD from the University of Manchester (then UMIST), UK in 1996. He has been working in the field of intelligent manufacturing solutions for some 30 years. Dr. Xu is an internationally recognized expert in smart manufacturing systems, cloud-based manufacturing and IoT enabled manufacturing. He serves as an Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor and member of Editorial Board of a number of international journals and has published over 350 research papers. Dr. Xu is the Director of Laboratory for Industry 4.0 Smart Manufacturing Systems (LISMS), the only Laboratory for Industry 4.0 in New Zealand. His current research focus is around the Industry 4.0 technologies, e.g. smart factories, digital twins, cloud manufacturing, Augmented Reality (AR) for manufacturing, big industrial data and data analytics. Dr. Xu is the Fellow of American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Engineering New Zealand (EngNZ). In 2020, he is named among of the “20 most Influential Professors in Smart Manufacturing” by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). He was recognized by Web of Science as a Clarivate™ Highly Cited Researcher in 2020

Sharifu Ura is full professor at Kitami Institute of Technology (KIT), Japan. He now directs KIT's Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Research Laboratory and Manufacturing Center. He is also the chairperson of the Intelligent Machines and Biomechanics Department. He now serves as the award committee chair of the Manufacturing Systems Division of Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. His research group focuses on Smart Manufacturing, 3D Printing, Sustainable Product Development, and Reverse Engineering. He has been conducting joint industry-led research with multiple manufacturing companies. He has mentored many graduate students toward their Master's and Doctoral degrees. He has published many technical articles in reputed peer-reviewed journals, edited books, and conference proceedings. He has been serving on the editorial boards of several peer-reviewed international journals.

Prof. Roberto Teti is Director of the Fraunhofer Joint Laboratory of Excellence on Advanced Production Technology (Fh-J_UniNaples) at the University of Naples Federico II, Italy.
His research activity is focused mainly on technological innovation for added-value manufacturing engineering; sensor monitoring of manufacturing processes; cyber-physical production systems and cloud manufacturing; 3D metrology and reverse engineering for additive and direct digital manufacturing; advanced composite materials technology; nondestructive testing techniques; artificial intelligence and machine learning for the Smart Factories.
Among the 100.000 top international scientists for all disciplines in the period 1996-2019, as published by the Plos Biology Journal in Oct. 2020, he is the author of over 350 publications, chairman of many international conferences, responsible for national and international contracts of applied and technological research, and fellow of the main scientific academies and societies for production engineering such as International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP) and Italian Association of Manufacturing Technology (AITEM)

Duc Truong Pham OBE FREng FLSW FSME FIET FIMechE PhD DEng holds the Chance Chair of Engineering at the University of Birmingham where he started his career as a lecturer in robotics and control engineering following undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. Prior to returning to Birmingham in 2011, he was Professor of Computer-Controlled Manufacture and Director of the Manufacturing Engineering Centre at Cardiff University. His research is in the areas of intelligent systems, robotics and autonomous systems and advanced manufacturing and remanufacturing technology.
