Circular Economy of Polymer: Challenges and Solutions
Outlines
There is a lot of global attention in reducing plastic waste and increasing recycling rates of plastics. In this presentation the SABIC approach towards circularity of plastics (TRUCIRCLE) will be explained. The focus will be on plastic applications enabling higher recycling rates and on the sorting and analytical challenges related to the different recycling technologies. The presentation will look to mechanical and chemical recycling and to the design for circularity of plastic applications.
Speaker
Dr. Maria Suliman
Dr. Maria studied physics and finished her PhD in polymer physics. After a Post-Doc on polymer rheology at UMASS in Amherst (Massachusetts), she started her professional career at DSM Research in Geleen, NL. She worked for SABIC and moved to the business unit polypropylene as technical product manager for STAMAX (long glass PP). Maria spent several years in automotive marketing and decided to return to a research environment starting new project portfolios amongst others related to advanced polymeric packaging solutions. Maria became Research Fellow at SABIC covering the areas of material science and application development and she coordinates global technology efforts on circular economy.
