A batch of female students of mathematics has been admitted to graduate programs (Master and Ph.D.) in King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals for the first time in September 2019. Several programs, initiatives and competent faculty have been put in place by the University to train outstanding female graduates of Mathematics to take part in the development of the Kingdom and conduct high quality research in basic and applied sciences.
The main aim of the Department of Mathematics is to provide distinguished educational services and high-quality research facilities to the students of master and doctorate degree programs of mathematics and statistics. These programs will prepare the female students to apply their knowledge in diverse areas such as business, economics, biology, medicine, sociology, psychology, ecology, statistics, and earth science at the undergraduate level and their specialized knowledge learnt in higher courses of Mathematics and Statistics and research work done for thesis will directly be helpful to promote engineering and scientific projects, business, economics, and other social sciences in the Kingdom.
In the list of the courses offered by the Department, there are two courses Math 599 and Math 699 which require a continuous training of a student, stretched over a semester, under the supervision of an advisor to prepare the material on a particular topic for a public seminar.
The female seminar series for this semester will take place on December 12, 2021. In order to celebrate this special occasion of seminar series by female graduate students, the Department of Mathematics will hold “Female Research Day” at the University level.
